Sanson Carlo Subert died at the age of 49 in 1910. He was born in Trieste in 1861, son of the antiquarian Emanuele Subert (1830-1902), born in Posna in the Czech Republic and arrived in Milan in 1863 where he had opened a gallery in via Monte di Pietà 2. Carlo had been an antique dealer together with his brother Rodolfo (1873-1958) and he had opened a gallery with him in Bellagio.
His wife and mother had the bronze monument made by the Faruffini and Ottolina foundry. The sculptor is Vitaliano Marchini. It represents a crying woman covering her face with her right hand and holding a flower with her left hand.
