Rebecca Franco Taranto belonged to a family of Turkish origin while her husband was from Smyrna. She died in 1918 at the age of 29 leaving a one-year-old son, Salvador Taranto.
The monument of architect Carlo Meroni and sculptor Ambrogio Bolgiani has an oriental style with a Moorish canopy and is in Candoglia marble with a granite base with a staircase and bronze decorations.
