Ettore Cantoni was born in Trieste in 1888 and died in Milan in 1927. After a life dedicated to industry, he published the novel “Quasi una fantasia” a year before his death. Set in Trieste, according to the Treccani Encyclopedia, it is “notable for its psychological insight and artistic quality” and recalls the work of Italo Svevo.
The painter and sculptor Jenne Cavazzoni (1908-1996) studied at the Brera Academy under the guidance of Wildt. She participated in the 1931 National Art Quadrennial in Rome.
The sculpture depicts a stylized standing woman with her face in profile, holding a book in her hand.
